Art

At Myatt Garden, we value creativity. Our art and design curriculum aims to equip our children with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art. Our commitment to art and creativity was first recognised in 2004, when we were awarded the prestigious Artsmark Gold Award. We have continued to hold the award for many years and continue to develop unique, creative projects to enrich our amazing children. 

We link our learning in art to our termly topics, where children use a variety of stimuli to inspire their own work, including direct observation, imagination, man-made objects and natural environments. Children develop skills in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and other craft techniques. They also learn from the work of great artists from around the world. 

Each year, the whole school suspends the normal timetable and takes part in the National Gallery’s Take One Picture project, which is then exhibited for friends and family.
