Myatt Garden Primary School

Information for Families: 10.6.22

I hope you all enjoyed a lovely half-term. We’re all well, rested and raring to get stuck in to what will be a busy time until the end of year.

Migration Stories
Our school community is richer and stronger because of its diversity and we want to celebrate that strength at our Myatt Summer Festival: We All Belong.

We’d love to hear more about your stories and incorporate them into our exhibition:
• Have you or your family moved to London from another part of the UK, or from another country?
• Have members of your family moved from London to live somewhere else?

Please share your stories with us, along with any photographs that you are happy to share.
All of your stories will be part of an amazing exhibition that celebrates our individual journeys and shared strength. You can share your story by:

• Clicking on the link here: Migration Story Form
• If you prefer to share your story without using this form, or make a voice recording/video then please email us at: Email Us    Thank you so much for your support!

Just before half-term the Friends of Myatt Garden held a very successful AGM for parents. This was an opportunity to find out more about what the FOMG have been doing and their exciting plans for future events.

We are hugely thankful for the FOMG and the contribution they make to our school. At a time when funding is being squeezed ever tighter, we are so grateful for all of you for supporting FOMG events and raising money that enables us to enrich the experiences of our children. You will see from the Account Summary the difference they have made - from funding many of our changes to the playground, making trips more affordable and funding key initiatives.

You can get involved and help by donating your fabulous recipes to their cookbook or volunteering at our upcoming festival.

Parent Governor Election
Thank you to everyone who came along and voted today. Three parents answered our call for new governors and we’ve had a good turnout of parents coming in to vote. Voting closes at 4.30pm today. You can vote at any point today at the school office or from 3.15 - 4.30pm in the canopy room accessed from the bottom playground.

Myatt Cook Book
Please take a little time this weekend to contribute a special family recipe to our Myatt Cook book. The deadline has been extended until 17th June to allow you more time to add your recipes. Click on the link to add your recipes and following the instructions online: Myatt Cook Book our Password: M1G&D

We need many more people to add recipes. There are 40 pages of recipes to fill, so please get involved. The cookbook celebrates the diversity of our school community and it’s an important part of Myatt Garden’s ‘We All Belong’ project. You are invited to share with us your favourite family meals, treats and desserts. Is Fish Friday your highlight, or do have a great veggie Pakora recipe to share, maybe it’s time to let us know your secret Jerk rub ingredients, or your Victoria sponge cake? You can add your own recipes, or a favourite recipe from a chef; let us know when you submit your recipes.  Example book here: Example Cook Book

Year 4 have just finished their two-week course of swimming lessons. Since covid, Wavelengths now provide an hour lesson every day for two weeks and we’ve found it to be much more impactful. Teachers and the children have felt proud of their progress as they can see the improvements on a daily basis. Year 6 will be starting their two weeks next week!

Trips and Visitors
This term we have been embracing the opportunity to get out and about with our classes. And we’ve still got more to come, these include Greenwich Observatory, Portals from the Past, Deptford Market, Horniman Museum, the seaside and cherry picking at the farm!
