Information for Families: 25.2.22
Happy Friday Everyone,
As we adjust to the new guidance, we are continuing to be cautious at Myatt Garden. Lateral Flow tests have been a valuable protector, ensuring that we have been able to avoid asymptomatic carriers are not spreading the virus in school. As they become less available, it will be important that we maintain other precautions as we transition.
In line with the government guidance we will still be asking:
- anyone with symptoms to get tested;
- families to continue to use lateral flow tests where they can and to self-isolate if they test positive.
We will continue to hold virtual meetings and assemblies at school and ask visitors to wear masks.
Take One Picture
It’s been a great week at Myatt, with all of our classes getting inspired by Claude Vernet’s ‘A shipwreck in a Stormy Sea’. They have been busy developing a range of specific art skills, as well as building resilience and their growth mindset.
We would love you to come and see what they’ve been up to when we exhibit our work at Lewisham Art house on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th March from 3.30 - 7.00pm.
School will be closed on Wednesday 9th March for parent meetings throughout the day. You will be able to access School Cloud to make an appointment up until 8pm tonight after which it will close. Please log on and make an appointment now if you haven’t done it already.
If you would rather have a phone call, please email your child’s teacher at their class email address and they will get in touch with you:
Picking up your children
It has been brought to our attention that there may be some confusion about the role of the list of contacts that parents provide of alternative adults that can collect their children. The contacts listed on our enrolment and contact information forms are ‘additional emergency contacts in case we are unable to reach adults named’
They are not a list of who can collect your child on any given day when needed. This is because there are times when situations change and parents are no longer happy for contacts to collect. Therefore, for safeguarding reasons, we cannot just let anyone listed as a contact take a child without prior notification. All we ask is that when pick-up arrangements need to change from the norm, you let us know in advance with either an email or call.
Myatt Book Week
Next week is Myatt Garden’s Book Week. During the week we will be sharing our new wishlist books - thank you to all of you that have purchased books for your children’s class. We will also be focusing on poetry and the children will be performing them to each other during the week. We’ll also be giving all of the children an opportunity to choose a book at our book swap.
Our Brockley Photography competition is still live and the closing date has been extended to the 13th March. Simply take photos of SE4 or SE14 and post on social media. Kids and adults are welcome to join in, but adults should post the photos for your children. Tag #friendsofmyattgarden and #conran, follow @conranestates and they will donate £1 to the Friends of Myatt Garden.
We would love our families to engage with this project and the winners’ photo will be made into a free postcard to be shared after the competition closes and will also feature on the cover of Conran Lifestyle magazine.
Save Lewisham Adventure Playgrounds
The council are currently consulting on the future of the boroughs adventure playgrounds, some of which have sadly been closed for most of the past two years. Adventure playgrounds can support children in assessing and taking risks and learning to climb and jump, as well as providing a safe place for children to play and be with their friends.
There are 2 surveys: one for parents to complete, another for children. The surveys are open until March 11th. Please add your thoughts.
