Portraits Through Time: Year 6’s Tudor Transformations
Year 6 recently took a creative leap into history, painting self-portraits inspired by Tudor and Edwardian portraits following their visit to the National Portrait Gallery.
Fascinated by the bold colors, intricate details, and symbolic elements of the historical style, the students sketched designs imagining themselves as figures from these eras. Tudor-inspired works featured rich reds, golds, and regal poses.
Blending observation with creativity, they added personal touches—like a Tudor ruff with modern accessories—resulting in unique and imaginative pieces.
This project not only sharpened their artistic skills but also deepened their understanding of how portraiture reflects identity and history. Well done, Year 6!
